FAQs

We understand choosing the right childcare for your family is a big decision. Here are answers to the most common questions from parents like you.

CENTRE OPERATIONS

We are open 52 weeks in the year, Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm.

As a long-day care centre, you are welcome to drop off and pick up your child at any time throughout the day. This allows us to support family needs, as well as child needs.

AGE GROUPS & ROOMS

We cater to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. We have allocated rooms based on age and developmental milestones.

We maintain the following educator-to-child ratios in line with the National Quality Framework:
0–2 years: 1 educator to 4 children
2–3 years: 1 educator to 5 children
3–5 years: 1 educator to 10 children

In addition to meeting these requirements, we go above the mandated ratios by employing three additional educators across our centre. This allows us to provide extra support throughout the day, ensuring children receive more personalised attention, continuity of care, and assistance whenever it's needed.

No. We do not use agency casual educators.

Instead, we employ our own team of dedicated above-ratio educators and floaters who are fully onboarded and trained to the same high standards as our permanent educators. This ensures consistency in the quality of care, familiarity for the children, and that staffing arrangements are always maintained when additional support or educator cover is required.

FOOD & NUTRITION

We have a fully qualified chef on site who prepares and serves a 5-course meal each day. All children's allergies and dietary requirements are catered for. Our 4-week rotational menu changes across the six seasons of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander calendar year and was developed in consultation with Munch and Move, ensuring your child receives nutritious, balanced meals throughout the day. Our menu was recently featured in the Munch and Move newsletter.

What's Included:
Breakfast
Morning Tea
Lunch
Afternoon Tea
Late Snack
All meals are freshly prepared daily and tailored to meet each child's dietary needs.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

We follow an open-ended program where the children guide the program rather than the program guides the children. This allows us to ensure the characteristics of each child is heightened with a little love and Nurture.

The program is based on the standards and practice of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The EYLF extends and enriches children's learning and development from birth to five years.
Our Approach:
Child-led learning experiences
Play-based curriculum
Individual learning plans
Regular developmental assessments
Documentation of milestones

CHILD HEALTH & SAFETY

We have a comprehensive Medical Conditions Policy that outlines practices for managing conditions such as allergies, asthma and anaphylaxis.

Our Process: Upon enrolment, families will be asked to provide medical condition plans for their child that will be followed, should an incident relating to the child's medical condition arise. This will be followed by centre staff as they are all First Aid trained.

During this process a deep conversation will be made with families on how we plan to:

  • Manage your child's medical condition
  • Minimise risk
  • Promote their health and safety

Your child's wellbeing is our top priority.

Yes! We welcome and encourage families to be actively involved in their child's learning journey. Upon enrolment, each family will be provided with secure access to the centre, allowing you to enter and exit throughout the day. We value strong partnerships with our families and community, so if you would like to participate in activities, share a special skill or cultural experience, or spend time in your child's room, please speak with our Centre Management team. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, we may request relevant documentation, such as a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and evidence of Child Safety Training, before participating in certain activities within the centre.

Safety First: The safety of every child is our highest priority. Only individuals who are registered and authorised through the parent/guardian portal are permitted to collect children. If one of our educators is unfamiliar with the person collecting your child, they will be asked to provide valid photo identification before a child is released into their care. This process helps ensure that children are only collected by authorised individuals and provides peace of mind for all families.

FEES & SUBSIDIES

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government payment that helps families with the cost of childcare.

  • CCS is a single, means and activity tested payment
  • Eligibility is determined by an activity test (both parents must work, study or volunteer at least 8 hours a fortnight)
  • CCS is paid directly to service providers and passed on to families as a fee reduction

Activity Test Explained:

The activity test is determined at family level:

  • In a two-parent family: Both parents must meet the activity test and the person with the lower number of hours will determine the relevant step of the activity test
  • In a sole parent family: The sole parent must meet the activity test

How to Apply for CCS:

  1. Sign in to myGov and go to Centrelink
  2. Select "Make a claim or view claim status" from your homepage
  3. Select "Get started" from the Families menu
  4. Select "Child Care Subsidy"
  5. Answer the Eligibility check questions first
  6. Start your claim and answer the questions about your situation
  7. Review and confirm your claim
