School Readiness Program
Preparing Your Child For A Confident Transition To Big School
At Nurtured Education & Care, our School Readiness Program helps children feel prepared, capable, and confident before they begin primary school. We support early literacy, numeracy, independence, social confidence, emotional regulation, and everyday life skills through a caring, play-based approach. Children are guided through familiar routines, purposeful learning, and small moments of practice that help big school feel like the next natural step.
A Seamless Transition To Big School
Starting school is a big change, and every child responds differently.
Our School Readiness Program is designed to make that change feel familiar, supported, and positive. We focus on the skills children need for the classroom and the playground, from early literacy and numeracy to emotional regulation, communication, friendships, and independence.
We work closely with families, local schools, and support professionals to help children feel ready before they arrive at the school gate.
Our goal is simple: to help schools feel like the next step, not a leap into the unknown.
More Than Just "Knowing Their ABC's"
School readiness is about more than letters and numbers. At Nurtured Education & Care, we combine play-based learning, early school exposure, and strong partnerships to support the whole child.
Play-Based Foundation (EYLF)
Children still learn through play.
We weave literacy, numeracy, communication, creativity, and problem-solving into experiences that feel fun and natural. Through stories, songs, drawing, building, dramatic play, outdoor play, and group games, children build important skills without losing the joy of childhood.
Early Stage 1 Exposure
Children preparing for primary school are gently introduced to Kindergarten-style routines and learning experiences.
This may include group time, guided lessons, name writing, early reading, simple maths, phonics, turn-taking, listening tasks, and following multi-step instructions.
These moments help children understand what school may feel like before they get there.
Strong School Partnerships
We collaborate with local primary schools where possible to support a smoother transition.
This may include sharing helpful information with families, supporting school visits, helping children talk about school routines, and preparing them for practical school-day moments such as packing their bag, using a lunchbox, meeting teachers, and becoming familiar with classroom expectations.
Ready In Every Sense Of The Word
We focus on the whole child, not just checklists. A child may know their alphabet, but school also asks them to manage their body, emotions, belongings, friendships, and daily routines. Our program supports children across all these areas.
Our School Readiness Learning Tools
We use a mix of play-based learning, educator-led lessons, safe digital tools, and real-life practice to support every child's growth.
How We Build Confidence Over Time
School readiness grows through steady practice.
Foundations
Children build social confidence, simple routines, communication, emotional awareness, early literacy, early numeracy, and independence through play.
Skill Building
Children begin longer group learning experiences, practise listening and following instructions, build self-help skills, and take part in more structured activities while still learning through play.
Transition Focus
Children practise school-style routines, lunchbox skills, bag routines, name writing, early reading, numeracy tasks, group activities, and school visits where possible.
You're Part Of The Transition Too
Parents are a big part of school readiness.
We keep you updated on your child's progress, strengths, and areas that may need more support. Our educators can also talk with you about school timing, school choices, readiness signs, and practical steps you can practise at home.
We support families with clear updates, individual meetings, school readiness discussions, practical routine tips, and ongoing communication once your child begins school.
You are not doing the transition alone. We are part of it too.
what parents say about their experience with us
Families often notice the small changes first. Their child starts opening their lunchbox alone. Writing their name. Asking for help. Making friends. Talking about school. Following routines with more confidence. These moments matter. They show that school readiness is not one big leap. It is built slowly, with care, patience, and the right support.
