Extra-Curricular Program

Enriching Development Through Language, Movement, Creativity & Real-World Experiences

At Nurtured Education & Care, learning doesn't stay in one corner of the room. Our Extra-Curricular Program gives children rich experiences that nurture language, movement, creativity, confidence, and curiosity while encouraging them to explore the world around them. From yoga and cooking to language learning, engineering, sport, creative arts, exciting excursions, and engaging in-house events, every experience is thoughtfully planned with purpose. Integrated into our everyday curriculum, these opportunities allow children to develop new skills, build meaningful connections, and discover new interests within a familiar, safe, and supportive environment. Whether they're participating in a hands-on activity at the centre or exploring the local community, every experience helps bring learning to life and inspires a lifelong love of discovery.

Why Enrichment Matters

Stimulating The Senses, Expanding Their World

Our extra-curricular program is not about keeping children busy.

It is about giving them experiences that stretch their thinking, bodies, imagination, and communication. When children move, create, experiment, cook, build, listen, speak, and play, they develop skills that flow into every part of their learning.

These activities help children become more confident now, while also building useful habits for the years ahead.

Two Core Pillars

Language + Movement At The Core

Two key areas sit at the heart of our Extra-Curricular Program: language development and movement-based wellbeing. Both support children in different but equally important ways.

A calm, language-rich classroom corner

Language Development

Early exposure to language helps children build listening skills, confidence, cultural awareness, and communication.

Through songs, stories, games, play, and simple conversations, children are introduced to new sounds and words in a way that feels light and enjoyable. Children often learn language best before the age of five, when their brains are naturally open to sound, rhythm, and repetition.

We keep it playful, not pressured.

The goal is to help children become curious, confident communicators who enjoy exploring words, cultures, and new ways of expressing themselves.

Movement & Wellness (Nurtured Body Program)

Our Nurtured Body Program blends yoga, sport, dance, and active play to support the whole child.

Movement helps children build strength, balance, coordination, body awareness, and physical confidence. It also supports emotional regulation, social skills, and a positive relationship with their bodies.

Children may practise breathing, stretching, group games, simple poses, teamwork, rhythm, and movement challenges.

These experiences help children feel more settled, capable, and connected to themselves.

Our Enrichment Activities

Seven Programs, One Integrated Experience

Children experience a curated mix of activities across the week. These are not added extras that sit outside the curriculum. They are woven into the way children learn, play, think, and grow each day.

Cooking

From garden to kitchen, children build life skills, maths, science, language, and healthy food relationships. Cooking gives children the chance to touch, smell, mix, count, pour, measure, follow steps, and talk about ingredients. It also encourages independence, patience, and curiosity about food.

Engineering & Tech

Children explore early STEAM through building, designing, coding toys, experiments, and simple problem-solving challenges. These experiences help children test ideas, think creatively, and learn how things work. They might build towers, design structures, predict what will happen, or work together to solve a challenge.

Yoga

Age-appropriate poses and breathing exercises support focus, calm, body awareness, and resilience. Yoga gives children time to slow down, listen to their bodies, and practise simple self-regulation strategies in a gentle way.

Physical Activity

Sport, movement games, and active play help children develop fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and a positive attitude to being active. Children build coordination, balance, strength, confidence, and social skills while learning how to move safely with others.

Language Program

Children are exposed to new languages through songs, stories, games, play, and everyday conversation. This helps support listening, memory, cultural awareness, communication, and confidence with new sounds and words.

Visual art, music, drama, and open-ended creative exploration give children space to express themselves. Children experiment with colour, texture, sound, movement, role play, storytelling, and imagination. There is no one "right" outcome. The process matters.

WEEKLY SPORT

Our weekly sports program, delivered in partnership with Soccajoeys, gives children the opportunity to build confidence, coordination and teamwork through fun, age-appropriate activities. Each session focuses on developing fundamental movement skills, balance, agility and ball control in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Led by experienced coaches, children learn through play while building resilience, social skills and a lifelong love of being active.

There are no extra fees; these programs are part of our everyday curriculum.

Benefits For Children

The Impact You'll Notice

Over time, families often see small but meaningful changes. Children may become more willing to try new activities. They may show stronger social skills, more confidence in group settings, better focus, improved coordination, and a greater interest in learning. You may notice:

Growing Confidence Children begin to say, "I'll give it a go," even when something feels new.
New Interests and Budding Passions A child may discover they love music, movement, building, cooking, language, drama, or creative play.
Stronger Social Skills Group activities help children practise teamwork, turn-taking, listening, sharing, and working with others.
Better Focus and Persistence Children learn to stay with a task, try again, solve problems, and enjoy the process.
A Genuine Love of Learning Because activities feel playful and meaningful, children begin to see learning as something exciting, not something forced.

Creating Childhood Memories

Some of the most treasured moments of early childhood happen during shared experiences. Whether it's meeting native animals, celebrating cultural traditions, performing in a concert, or discovering something new on an excursion, these opportunities inspire joy, wonder, and a lifelong love of learning.

At Nurtured Education & Care, every adventure is another opportunity to nurture confident, curious and capable learners.

what parents say about their experience with us

Families often tell us they love seeing their children talk about what they did during the day. A child comes home showing a yoga pose. Singing a new song. Talking about a science experiment. Asking to cook. Building something with purpose. Moving with more confidence. These moments show us that children are not just taking part. They are connecting with what they learn.
